How do you keep existing when your heart is so splintered, so completely torn to shreds, your pulse is fading?

You’re…broken. How do you move forward when every breath is nothing more than a constant ache? Living becomes an insidious reminder that you threw away the single largest part of yourself. Your…soul. No amount of distraction can pull you from the torture of losing your…life.

Now that Emily Cooper has walked away from her first love, she finds herself running toward her only love. Unraveling fast, but clinging to hope, Emily risks all she has left on the man that has consumed her every thought and dream since the day they met. Will Gavin take her back? And if so, will their reunion be a collision of two hearts destined to complete one another and rekindle a love that knew no boundaries? Or will scars from their past rip open, tearing slowly at what each of them was meant to be? Can fate, the ultimate game changer, mend the shattered road it laid out from the start?

Only time will tell…

With an equally devious brow lifted, Gavin ran a hand through his messy hair, and leaned back against the headboard, the grin on his mouth wide. “These gifts wouldn’t happen to include a black laced ensemble worn by you, double ‘A’ batteries and your ‘shmexy’ legs shaking uncontrollably around my head, would they?” Eyes wide, Emily belted out a laugh. But shit if he didn’t look hot, waiting for her, shirtless no less. She swallowed, suddenly aware of the throbbing between her legs. All humor left her face as she slowly crawled onto the bed. With the bag in one hand, she took the other and slightly lowered his sweatpants. She rained kisses along his hip, following his glorious tattoo all the way to the side of his left rib cage. Sighing in pure contentment, she moved her lips back down over every delicious peak and dip of his washboard abs. She felt Gavin tense, his muscles tightening. He buried his hands in her hair as she hovered, lightly skimming her tongue along the edge of the evil looking beast’s wings. In all its evilness, it tasted like the sweetest cotton candy in her mouth. Emily brought her eyes up to his, their light, blue sexual intensity shocking through her system. She smiled. “So you never told me why you got this particular tattoo on your body.” Gavin blinked, a rush of puffed air escaping his mouth. “Are you honestly going to ask me that after you just achingly licked your way up my body?” “What?” Emily giggled, straddling his waist. Looking down at him, she frowned. “I want to know, Gavin. You told me why you got it where you did, but you left out why you picked a dragon.” Eyes zeroed in on her lips, Gavin smirked. “I got the dragon because I knew women would never… ever… ever be able to resist licking over it.” Emily playfully swatted his arm. “You bastard. Are you saying I’m not the first to lick it?” In one quick movement, Gavin slipped his arm behind her waist, flipping her onto her back. Emily gasped, her heart nearly stopping as he hovered above her, lightly brushing his mouth against hers. “Oh my God,” she breathed. “I was right. You are crazy.” “And you’re trying to kill me with your questions,” Gavin countered, now nipping at her bottom lip, which she started to realize was something he loved to do. “You’re no longer allowed to say the words ‘lick it’ while in my presence. Is this understood, Miss Cooper?” His demand drifted over her like a caress, however, she was about to push a few buttons. She popped a brow, her mouth curled into a smirk. “Lick… it… Caveman.”

Kim’s 5 STAR Review
First & Foremost if you haven’t read Collide then you really need to do so right now as this review might not make much sense to you since Pulse is the 2nd book in the Collide series.
Although I received an ARC of Pulse I went ahead and purchased the book and then read it~ Pulse was one book I was really looking forward to reading for 2013 ~ I would say in the Top 5 of second book in series that I HAD to read.
We all know that Collide sure did a number on us at the end ~ We had no clue what was going to transpire between Gavin, Emily & Dillon it was utterly a total …

moment for me! Well Pulse opens where Collide left off let’s just say hang on to the seat of your pants cause Holy Hell it really did start off I was already ..

at my Kindle! Pulse is told in both Emily & Gavin’s POV so you get to experience both of their feelings. To me it made the book PERFECT ~ I seriously thought Gavin’s decision as to how he would try & “cope” with what transpires would leave me …

and that was before something goes down that I really did want to ..

Gavin but I had to look at the entire picture and take a step back and say okay it “technically” isn’t what I think but still I wasn’t very happy. There is so much emotion packed into all 448 pages of this book that I think I spent a helluva a lot of time ..

but there were equal parts of me …

and of course Gavin & Emily’s sexy as sin chemistry is still there and I loved the times they..

The steamy in between the sheets time was well balanced with the rest of the story. Come on ladies Gavin FREAKING Blake will have you..

he is the PERFECT man and you can totally feel his love, commitment and dedication to Emily and frankly…

As I think back to Pulse, Lord I already miss this one, I will never forget a part of the book that literally brought me..

and had me …..

and then I was totally …

I mean totally hard freaking ugly sobbing. It was at this point I put the Kindle down ~ I was scared to go forward I really was. I mean I couldn’t believe it. When I finally moved to the next Chapter I immediately was…

and totally thinking

and I was so immensely

that I started

and I thought oh that’s EVIL Gail but PURE FREAKING GENIUS best “twist” I’ve read in a book in a long time. We watch as Gavin & Emily deal with ongoing issues and Gail does a wonderful job walking them through it and not leaving anything hanging. What they faced they faced together. Their concerns, were real, emotions so damn heartfelt and the utter fear that perhaps fate couldn’t be kind to them in the end was always palpable.
By the end of Pulse I was….

and I was …

it was the BEST ending and Epilogue I was so freaking happy. I was elated that things turned out the way they were meant to. Does this mean that things ended how you might be thinking I might be saying? Well read the book cause I’m always a firm believer that if an author tells the story and leaves no open doors hanging then how the book ends, regardless if it’s what I wanted, is fine by me cause I was given the map and shown the way.
Pulse literally took my breath away ~ you will find it will take yours away more so a time or two 🙂 Anyone that’s read the book knows EXACTLY what I’m referring to!
I can’t limit Pulse to only 5 stars NO DANG WAY – no it’s way more than 5 stars – a second book that by far exceeded my expectations and an author with an honest to God given knack for writing gripping emotional tales that leave you feeling utterly satisfied!
Gail has the gift of storytelling and way with words that you don’t see everyday and that there is the reason I will read ANYTHING she publishes and I pray she gifts us with more!!
This series is a MUST DROP ALL READ NOW!!! ENTER into to the delicious world of Gavin Blake and may you too dream each night you’re Emily!!!!!

Denise’s 4 STAR Review
Please do not read Pulse until you have read Collide; warning if you have not read Collide make sure Pulse is loaded on your Kindle before you get to the end.

Ok for those who have read Collide you know the wait has been torturous as the end of Collide left most of us with our hearts pounding screaming into our kindles… no.. I need more… now.

Good news! Ms. McHugh made the wait worth the journey to an amazing end that this time left me with a smile from ear to ear.

I will not tell you how this book gets to the happy as there are two specific events that experiencing as a reader are something I would not want to ruin for you.
I will say one truly had me white knuckling my Kindle, thinking no.. no.. please no, you did not just do that.

Pulse picks up where Collide ended, Emily knowing Gavin is her future. Having just walked out on Dillion the night before their wedding.

In Pulse Emily is quickly faced with the very real possibility that she has ruined what could have been the most perfect thing in her life. The emotions that run through Emily is something the reader can feel, her pain and turmoil are tangible.

Unfortunately, I must say the end of Collide was the not end of Dillion and if you thought you could not hate him anymore well WRONG…..his behavior will make you cringe and you will be praying the Emily finds a way to truly keep him out of her life for good. There are a few scenes with Dillion that may push your emotions almost to the line. You will be wishing you could strangle this monster yourself.

I truly enjoyed the Emily in Pulse, she was stronger and determined. She was willing to accept her emotions and look at her life with purpose and vision. Emily slowly finds her voice and embraces Gavin and his love.

Ms. McHugh developed other characters in Pulse as well, her development of Trevor was wonderful, he has a few keys scenes with both Emily and Gavin that truly layer the story. They also make the reader think, what is friendship, it is about the time you spend with someone or what do you do what things get tough and you have the made uncomfortable decisions.

Gavin Blake, what can I say about Gavin, he is man who knows what he wants but what does he become when he thinks she will never be his…. the image of Gavin as Pulse opens put my heart in my throat and tore my heart out for him. Gavin finding his way to accepting Emily and her love, watching him love her in the end all made me adore Gavin even more.

Emily and Gavin’s path to each other is one with bumps along the way, big bumps, a path with decision, big, small and life alternating but in the end it is a happy that the reader know is the forever kind.

The last few pages of this book truly warmed my heart, Emily and Gavin cherish the love they development and their future is bright!

Collide and Pulse make for a wonderful journey to a forever that will stick with you long after you close your kindle.

About the Author
gail author picI’ve always been a lover of writing, but mostly dabbled in creating poetry while raising my three beautiful children. I am grateful my husband of fifteen years has supported me—albeit sometimes kicking and screaming—as I pursue this “hobby” of mine. Without his help, writing would be an impossible endeavor.

In late June 2012, I felt an urgent tug of my pen, and I began writing one of my first novels, Collide. Although I thought it might never see the light of day, it gave me the courage to plunge headfirst onto a path I had never considered before.
