But it’s not her job to save him, and she’s just not getting that. Every time she tries to protect him, she practically gets him killed, and the tighter he grips her, the more dangerous she becomes.

It’s almost as if…well, he’d never admit this….but it’s almost as if protecting her the way he does is the one thing he should stop. As if the only way he’s ever going to find a moment’s peace is to just embrace her as a partner, rather than a defenseless creature.

But he’d never do that. Not this violent motherfucker.

Wow! So these are the first C.D. Reiss books I have read and will definitely not be my last. Author Claire Contreras recommended these books to me and I always take her advice because she gives me good books to read and boy was I blown away!

I want to note first that I thought that these books were SO well researched..the author did a phenomenal job with this because I really felt like I was a character within this book living this story with them (either that or watching a really good movie). Every scene, situation, conversation was really true to what I feel a life in a Mafia crime family would be like.

So what’s it about?

Well this series is a spin off from the Songs of Submission Series but can be read as a standalone (but of course now want to go back and read those too! So many good books so little time!)

This is the story of Anthony Spinelli aka Spin aka Capo, the man running the show. When he meets Theresa Drazen aka Contessa, the beautifully smart, socialite/accountant/movie script writer, their lives are forever changed. You see Theresa is the good girl, family oriented; she is getting over being cheated on by her boyfriend Daniel, a candidate for mayor. Spin is a complete 360 of the typical guy she dates, but she is drawn to him, attracted to him and vice versa. Their connection is palpable.

Getting involved with Spin means becoming a part of his world of violence and crime. Though he wants to resist to protect her from harm, there is no denying their feelings, their emotions, their love. And let’s not even get into the hot, steamy sex….just WOW! WOW! WOW! I love a dirty talker 😉

Theresa gives Spin a look into what life could be like outside of the world he is used to; he wants to be a better man for her.

Action packed, suspenseful and intrigued, I immediately jump into Ruin to find out what is in store for this couple.

In Ruin, Theresa is SO different from the socialite we have come to know. At his complete mercy and totally embedded into his life and heart, Spin has awakened something in her that she never knew existed. While she started off so pure and innocent (which is what drew Spin to her in the first place), her goodness is changing to protect the man she loves with her whole being and for once Spin wants out. Out of this life he knows, out of the responsibility; just wanting a normal life with his Contessa.

Spin has so much to contend with in Ruin…trying to deal with and escape the family dynamic while protecting the woman he loves. And as Spin and his Contessa plan for a future that is so unpredictable, I know that they love each other…but will love be enough?

So YES there is a part three and their story is not done…..but I am on the edge of my seat DYING for the next book because I have to know what happens, I have to know if their love can survive.

CD Reiss totally amazed me with her story telling…I was completely captivated all the way from page 1 of Spin to the end of Ruin and am left wanting more. Completely passionate, sexy, violent yet emotional, CD Reiss found a new fan in me and I can’t wait to read what perfection she has in store for us next!!!
