Italy, 1943—Germany occupies much of the country, placing the Jewish population in grave danger during World War II.

As children, Eva Rosselli and Angelo Bianco were raised like family but divided by circumstance and religion. As the years go by, the two find themselves falling in love. But the church calls to Angelo and, despite his deep feelings for Eva, he chooses the priesthood.

Now, more than a decade later, Angelo is a Catholic priest and Eva is a woman with nowhere to turn. With the Gestapo closing in, Angelo hides Eva within the walls of a convent, where Eva discovers she is just one of many Jews being sheltered by the Catholic Church.

But Eva can’t quietly hide, waiting for deliverance, while Angelo risks everything to keep her safe. With the world at war and so many in need, Angelo and Eva face trial after trial, choice after agonizing choice, until fate and fortune finally collide, leaving them with the most difficult decision of all.

Completely captivating and unputdownable – From Sand and Ash is a definite TOP FAVORITE of 2016!

A poignant and touching story of courage, sacrifice, faith, hope and love amidst the turmoil and devastation of WWII. I don’t normally read historical romance but I love Ms. Harmon’s writing and wanted to take a chance on this story and I am SO glad I did.

Ms. Harmon truly knows how to set the scenes, the imagery and created amazing characters I couldn’t get enough of. Everything you already know about WWII and the treatment of the Jewish population during this period of time will break your heart as you will be completely immersed in this story. Things we don’t know like how members of the Catholic Church hid Jewish families within the churches and convents will open your eyes to the courage and true heart of good people.

And within all of this, the love of two people who grew up like family but couldn’t be together because of the circumstances will touch your soul as you read this book and hope and pray that nothing will happen to them during these troubling times. Turning page after page, my emotions ran the gamut. I was completely sucked into this story and it was hard to walk away as life continued on around me; my mind kept coming back to this story and I truly felt I was a part of it too, living the moments through Ms. Harmon’s magnificent words.

Ms. Harmon eloquently tells this beautiful story of true heroism and faith and it is in a word – STUNNING.

I liken my reading experience similar to how I felt reading The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons. From Sand and Ash is another #epic historical read that I will never, ever forget. I know I am not telling you too much of the story but trust me when I say that this is a must read that you have to pick up today and experience for yourself. Amy Harmon is a masterful storyteller and an author I will read over and over again. From Sand and Ash is completely BRILLIANT! <3
