It all started with a pinky swear…

Linden McGregor is tall, rugged, and gunslinger handsome; a helicopter pilot with a Scottish brogue and charm to spare. He’s also one of Stephanie Robson’s best friends and has fit into that box for as long as she’s known him.

Beautiful, funny and an ambitious businesswoman (with one hell of an ass), Stephanie Robson is one of Linden McGregor’s best friends and has fit into that box for as long as he’s known her.

But some relationships can’t be boxed, can’t be classified, can’t be tamed.

Back in their mid-twenties and tired of the competitive hit-or-miss dating scene of San Francisco, Steph and Linden made a pact to marry each other if neither one of them are in a serious relationship by the time they hit thirty.

It sounds like fun and games but as the years to thirty tick past and lovers come and go out of their lives, the pact becomes larger than life.
Sex is inevitable. Friendships are tested. Hearts are on the line.

The pact is about to change everything.

Karina Halle has done it again! People who know me know I LOVE her and her books. The Pact was no different. This was a different story than what I am used to from Ms. Halle.  She has shown us her range and diversity as an author giving us action, suspense, drama and horror all combined with love and romance. This time around, Karina has given us something light hearted and fun yet still beautifully written and I am ecstatic beyond belief to share it with you (without revealing too many of the details of course because this is one you don’t want to miss out on!).

This was the perfect type of book to read on Christmas Eve. I had a smile on my face and warmth in my heart as two best friends make a pact that if they are not married or in a serious relationship by age 30 that they will marry each other. Yes, maybe this story has been done before but not with Ms. Halle’s finesse so I urge you to give it a try – you won’t be disappointed.

What did I love?

  • well foremost the characters – Linden, the best friend with the Scottish brogue (aka Cowboy), handsome, wealthy and somewhat of a player but someone who is trying to live outside of his family’s wealth and name by doing what he loves – being a helicopter pilot. We also have Stephanie (aka Baby Blue). She is the manager of a clothing store and has aspirations to own her own clothing boutique.  This is a contemporary romance dealing with characters who are going into their 30’s so I LOVED this take on the story as everything they went through, I could relate to.
  • their friends to more relationship – this was a slow build as we, the reader, is taken on a 5 year journey of watching these characters date other people, move along in their careers professionally all the while supporting each other and trying to remain good friends. There is no denying their chemistry and attraction to each other and though watching their story unfold was a wonderful journey for me to be on, I couldn’t help but want more because for me, it was inevitable that they were meant for each other.
  • the angst, the feels, the emotions – I can’t deny that Karina does this SO FREAKING WELL! Karina has this magical way of gripping the reader into the story, making us completely fall in love with her story and characters and feeling every emotion, every thought that they are experiencing. The pace of the story, the descriptions all layered with her masterful writing had me laughing, crying, devastated, heart broken then smiling all over again.

I LOVE full complete reads and of course an HEA and Karina delivers in spades. If you are looking for that next read from a seasoned author that you can put your trust into that she will give you a well written story that gives you all of the “feels” and more…look no further than The Pact.

Favorite Quote: “I have been your best friend for nine years. I want to be your whole world for ninety more. You are everything I could ever want – a friend, a lover, family – wrapped up in one fantastically hot package….I’ve learned so much with you all this time and I want to learn more. I want to grow with you, evolve with you, laugh with you, and please you, until I’m old and grey, until I can’t speak or hear, until the only thing I can do is love. That’s the one thing that will never end – my love for you.”
