At thirty-five, Abigail Simmons has mastered only one thing—running. When tragedy strikes, she runs. This time her urge to flee brings Abi back to her hometown, where she hopes she can find the peace she’s always searched for. That hope is dashed when Abi’s ex, Sam Forrester, bumps his way back into her life.
Sam has flourished in ways Abi hasn’t. From the outside, he has it all—a successful medical practice, a beautiful daughter, and a charming wife.
Who is dying.
Sara Forrester is dying and her final wish is for Sam to find love again so she can meet the woman who will finish raising her daughter and grow old with her husband. Abi seems like the perfect fit, but what Sara doesn’t know is that Abi has a secret, a secret no one could guess.
And it’s a deal breaker.
A note from the author Michelle Leighton:
WILL YOU TRUST ME?
I am so, so excited to tell you that THE DANDELION is live! I loved everything
about this story, from the way it began as a dream to the way I cried a few times as
I wrote it. This book has some of the most real and raw and wounded characters I’ve
ever fallen in love with, but I think that’s why I love them so much. And I truly
believe you will, too, but I want to implore you to TRUST ME. Trust me that,
although there are obstacles and struggles that cut to the heart of every woman,
this book is one of love and hope and friendship and selflessness of epic
proportions. Trust me to bring you closure and happiness, the kind we all have to
work for, but the kind that’s made all the more special because we have to work for
it.Give this book a try. Give this love a try. Give this HOPE a try:) I sincerely
hope you adore the story as much as I do!
Wow, Wow, WOW! I haven’t read a Michelle Leighton book in so long and the blurb for The Dandelion caught my attention and I had to read it. I am so glad I did.
This is a premise that I have never read before so I am not sure if it has been done before but Leighton showed how it could be done so beautifully, so poetically perfect, so true to the amazing characters she crafted.
Abigail Simmons returns to her hometown for reasons unknown to the reader—though I could feel the sadness behind the reasons—I didn’t know what it was. Coming home brings her ex, Sam Forrester back into her life and while he is now a successful physician, married to a beautiful wife with a lovable daughter, the happiness that should be radiating from him is missing because his beloved wife is dying… and her one wish is to find the woman who will replace her in her husband and daughter’s life…
Wow… being in that kind of situation, I can’t even imagine being put into that situation—both from Sara who is dying and Abi who is THAT woman. But Sara with all of her grace and beauty couldn’t be more willing and gracious and knowing of what is to come and the realities that her family will face.
My heart was touched… I cried… and I felt so many emotions for this family including Abi because yes, she is a part of this small family and all that they have to go through. Learning Abi’s secrets, feeling the love that never died between Sam and Abi, and watching this story unfold was one of the most beautiful things I have ever experienced and I am completely amazed by this author’s talent.
You see Abi has learned through life to always run away from things, she thinks she doesn’t deserve happiness and my heart burst from the true gentleman that is Sam. Sam is a good husband and father and with Abi… his way with words, the things he said to her, how he treated her… just EVERYTHING… I melt!
Yes there is heartbreak and sadness in this book but there is hope too… there is love… there is that earth shattering love that will put you back together after you feel that you are broken and I am IN AWE.
The Dandelion is a definite Top Fave of 2018 and it’s inspiring, and beautiful, and one of the best books I have read in a very long time. So well done! xo <3
