Lieutenant Apollo Floros can ace tactical training missions, but being a single dad to his twin daughters is more than he can handle. He needs live-in help, and he’s lucky a friend’s younger brother needs a place to stay. He’s surprised to see Dylan all grown up with a college degree…and a college athlete’s body. Apollo’s widowed heart may still be broken, but Dylan has his blood heating up.
It’s been eight years since the teenage Dylan followed Apollo around like a lovesick puppy, and it’s time he showed Lieutenant Hard-to-Please that he’s all man now—an adult who’s fully capable of choosing responsibility over lust. He can handle Apollo’s muscular sex appeal, but Apollo the caring father? Dylan can’t afford to fall for that guy. He’s determined to hold out for someone who’s able to love him back, not someone who only sees him as a kid brother.
Apollo is shocked by the intensity of his attraction to Dylan. Maybe some no-strings summer fun will bring this former SEAL back to life. But the combination of scorching desire and warm affection is more than he’d expected, and the emotion between them scares him senseless. No fling lasts forever, and Apollo will need to decide what’s more important if he wants to keep Dylan in his life—his past or his future.
At Attention by Annabeth Albert grabbed a hold of my heart and did not let go!
Annabeth Albert is a “new to me” author…I think this part had me just as excited as the story. I was contacted by a PR rep for the author about another book in this series, I politely declined to read that book and the PR rep wrote me back a very nice email saying based on the prior books I have loved I really should take a look at the series.
I did and this blurb really grabbed me, so my initial no became am I am so Thankful for the PUSH! Because now.. now I am going to devour and binge read the whole series!
Now back to the story…..
From the opening lines of this one I was glued to my kindle. As the blurb suggests this is a May/December romance but part of what I loved so much about this book is that in a few short lines the age difference disappears and they are just Apollo and Dylan.
Apollo the widower single dad Navy SEAL so is really just going through the motions and Dylan the man starting his career post college looking into the face of the man of his childhood crush (his older brother Dustin’s best friend)
The heat between these two bleeds off the pages, their connection and chemistry is clear but….. the emotions well the reader knows they are falling in love the question becomes accepting love a second time is well… Ok hahaha.. read the BOOK I am not telling how it plays out
Except to say the journey that Apollo and Dylan take to their happy with his twins was so perfect for them. The way the author portrayed Apollo’s grief, the way it had to be Apollo to chose to move forward was all so perfect.
The twins made for some adorable scenes and the world painted in this one has me already ready to dive into the next book in the series!
This is the kind of book you purposely read slow so you can savor every word! 📖
Thank you again, Judith for pushed me to take a look at this series… yes there will be more reviews to come as I just jumped into On Point, the next book is the series about Ben and Maddox (yes that’s TWO hot Navy SEALS)
Ps after you read At Attention make sure to download the FREE short “I DO“… which is an amazing epilogue for this family!
