Head of the class...
Garrett Daniels has this whole life thing figured out.
The cocky, charismatic former high school star quarterback is an idolized football coach and "cool" teacher in the hometown where he's not just a golden boy — he's platinum. He has good friends, a great house on the lake, and the best damn sidekick a man could ask for: Snoopy, the albino beagle.
Then...Callie Carpenter comes home.
And knocks him right on his tight end zone.
Back to school...
Callie has a pretty sweet life herself...on the other side of the country. But circumstances — that she'd prefer to never speak of again — have brought her back home, helping out her parents and substitute teaching at her old high school.
Now she's facing bickering, raging hormones, constant gossip, awkward weirdness, and drama galore...and that's just the teachers.
Just like old times...
When Garrett offers to show his former high school sweetheart the secrets of his winning teacher ways, Callie jumps at the chance - and then has to stop herself from jumping him.
Good friends are all they can ever be.
Or...these teachers just might end up getting schooled — hard — by love.
I must admit that I have only tried one other audio book that didn’t end up working for me and I figured that I was not one of those people who would ever be able to listen to a book. So when Emma’s publicist approached me to review the audio version of Getting Schooled, I was a bit hesitant. She told me that the narrators for this book were the best of the best and that I would not be disappointed and you know what? She was completely right! I truly enjoyed my first audio book and am looking forward to listening to more!
What I thought was cool about this release that is different than what I have seen in the past is that the audio book is being released first. So don’t worry readers… the ebook and paperback will be coming in June so if audio books are not for you, Getting Schooled is coming soon. For those who love audio books or those of you who don’t know if you would like it, I totally say give this one a try… I was sucked in from the very instant that I heard Garrett Daniels voice.
Everything you need to know about the book is in the synopsis. Callie Carpenter is back home because of certain circumstance while serious in nature also hysterically funny (from an outsider perspective… not if it was something that happened in my life though… I know I am being vague so read the book lol).
The instant that Garrett and Callie are back in each other’s space—because they will be teaching with each other in their old high school—sparks fly and it’s like they were never separated.
I have to say that I loved them together. There was never any drama for drama. Callie and Garrett are both caring individuals who truly love each other despite time and distance… always putting each other first. The chemistry between them is insanely sexy and the banter was completely fun. This is a warm and entertaining story with a small town feel, where everyone knows each other and is so family oriented that you feel as if you are a part of the story.
I have said before that Emma Chase writes the BEST male POV and I love Garrett’s protectiveness, kindness and actually I loved both his and Callie’s positive roles in the high school teenagers lives.
This story is completely relatable—like reliving the best years of high school all over again (I LOVED my high school experience—while being emotional, and steamy and all around enjoyable.
Narrators Zachary Webber and Andi Arndt stole the show for me and elevated what I already know about Emma Chase’s writing—her writing to me is already amazing—but with these two talented narrators reading her words—Getting Schooled was complete perfection.
I am VERY MUCH looking forward to Dean’s story next!
