After suffering a horrific injury that threatens to end his career, Baden Oulett is about to learn that sometimes a fresh start is just what the doctor ordered.
I worked my whole life to achieve one goal—play professional hockey. As part of the defending Cup champion Arizona Vengeance, I was living my dream until one split second decision destroyed it all. Instead of lacing up my skates and hitting the ice, I’ve spent my days in rehab and physical therapy just so I could walk again. When a coaching opportunity with the Pittsburgh Titans is presented to me, I find myself with a career I had never considered but which allows me to continue being part of the sport that I love.
While my injuries are physical, the same can’t be said for the woman I rescued. Suffering from wounds that can’t be seen, Sophie Winters has withdrawn from the world in fear and guilt. I didn’t know Sophie before that fateful night and have only met her once since, but I refuse to let her face her demons alone. Determined to be a friend, I support Sophie in the only way I know how… by simply being there.
Through our shared trauma, Sophie and I begin to find peace within one another. As we grow closer, what started as friendship becomes more intimate until our broken pieces become one. But can a love born of anguish endure, or will the pain of our past prove too much to overcome?
Readers who read Riggs by Sawyer Bennett, knew before the blurb Baden was announced that this book was going to a WOW from a storyline perspective!
Reading Riggs is not required to LOVE Baden, this book is completely standalone and is the opening for is promising to be a series laced with deep emotions as Bennett processes grief at so many levels for those affected by the plane crash that took out an entire NHL team…
Yes, you read that right, the premise of The Pittsburgh Titans an NHL team being rebuilt as a plane crash resulted in the death of the team and its staff.
Ok this specific book….. hahaha.. I got so caught up in my love of this premise and NEW Bennet world I am always paragraphs in without chatting Baden and Sophie
Sophie and Baden have a relationship born from shared trauma…. no not the plane crash…
An attack, one, Baden saved Sophie from but cost him his professional hockey career
The plane crash provides Baden who is still attempting to rehab with the Arizona Vengeance a new path, the opportunity to be a goalie coach.
This transition to a new city and career puts Baden in Sophie’s orbit again and sets up an amazing dynamic as there two support each other.
The how the love builds, the depth of connection, and the intertwined understanding they share of each other are the elements of beautiful love stories.
I look forward to watching beautiful love grow as this series continues!
Thank you to Bennett for allowing me to feel really feel two adults, two adults dealing with what life can throw are you, deciding to embrace the love in front of them
And yes some sexy heat as well heat that builds from attraction to deep connection!
In the end that may be the BEST part of this book…. it is about more than boy meets girl and they fall in love…
I think the most amazing thing for me in reading Baden is that Bennett pulls of this storyline without it feeling “heavy.” I have no idea how but she does… the book is filled with hope, the reader wants each character to find their new normal and you close Baden really excited to see how the reason the rest of the series plays out.
I know am STOKED for these upcoming books that promise to be well written about characters who will find LOVE but the books will NOT be “formula” romance novels.
How is this for laced with emotion check out this summary of The Pittsburgh Titans
Stone Dumelin lost his younger brother when the Titans’ team plane went down and is now a rostered player
Gage Heyward, Veteran player, retired from the league following a very successful career. Now the Titans need him, but does he have what it takes to get back on the ice and pull this team together?
Coen Highsmith was a league star the only surviving Titan was injured and NOT in the plane that fateful day
