📚 Denise’s Top Picks of 2020 💖
Denise here… It almost goes without saying that 2020 was a very unique year…
During the year there were times I struggled to read and times it felt like a good book helped me stay sane….
And it did bring a smile 😃 to my face as I looked back at the fabulous books that touched me in 2020!
Here are my favorites for the year!
Here is my WHY for each selection…
- Little Lies by H Hunting this book that had me trying to force myself to read slowly so that I could savor every word… a book that has me wishing I can just say READ THIS BOOK in shouty caps and every reader would. Hunting blew me away with this story, her attention to detail, the time and care spent on Lavender, and Kodiak’s “issues.”
Lavender and Kodiak’s story was almost a case study in learning how to manage yourself before you can be good for someone else. - Raising West by Alyson Santos stars Mason West, his vulnerability is refreshing and captivating. The story Santos tells is unique, powerful, captivating, and laced with deep emotions that offer a window into the soul of the character. The song lyrics which were woven beautifully into the story are used to convey so much depth that this story will live in my soul for a very long time
- Code Name: Ghost by Sawyer Bennett is a book I feel like I have been waiting soooo lllonnngggg for! Malik and Anna’s story was a powerful tale of grieve, friendship, second chances and the power of having someone love you for you… all of you… the good the bad and the ugly. I have read and adored the whole Jameson Force Security series but this book.. this book… is the BEST of the series
- This is Forever by Natasha Madison was…. WOW… 🤩 just WOW… 🤩 This book was what I want in a romance novel and then some…. this hockey-themed single mom trope hits the readers with so many emotions it will keep you glued to your kindle.
Madison weaves heavy and heartbreaking with funny and witty to craft a read that will touch your heart and soul - Release by Aly Martinez was WOW….. Martinez is a master storyteller. This book was given the SUPER rare dual mom’s 5-star ⭐ review. This book was Unforgettable, breathtaking, mind-blowing, beautiful —I will never forget this story that gave me ALL THE FEELS and made my book-loving heart so very happy.
- The Hush Notes Series is a character-driven series containing three stories that blew me away as they transcended their tropes and captured by heart. Lies and Lullabies by Sarina Bowen, Rifts and Refrains by Devney Perry is a second chance, single Dad, rocker based romance is so much more than three tropes rolled into one, it is a love story that bleeds off the pages and Perry laces this read with deep emotions and an attraction that you can feel. And finally Muses and Melodies by Rebecca Yarros is a raw and powerful look at the deep-seated wounds of Nixon’s addiction and a real feel journey through recovery and the epilogue is beyond powerful and a great end to what is now one of the top rock stars series ever!
- When You Come Back to Me by Emma Scott was a powerful look at connections, friendship, true self, and addiction. Though I have been to this author’s name many times it is my first book by her and man Scott blew me away with her vivid imagery and deep emotions.
If you have never read a gay romance story this is a wonderful first step into the genre! - The Reality of Everything by Rebecca Yarros READS like a movie and should be one!
- Taunting Callum by Kristen Proby was pure romance and the romance isn’t because Callum is a Prince it’s because who is Callum as a man
- Happily Letter After by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward I HIGHLY recommend this one as this unique, powerful, and engaging story will live with me for some time to come! This book pulled a wide range of emotions from me as it brought a smile to my face, a tear to my heart and almost the whole read had a tight grip in my heart.
- You had me at Hockey by Kelly Jamieson themes that highlight the need for communication and the lesson that everyone’s experience is their own took this book to a whole other level!
- A Merry Vested Wedding by Melanie Moreland was such a beautiful read….The reader gets to live in Brayden and Addison’s happiness; you relive this couple’s journey to their wedding weekend and history in flashback moments and… then …..get to live in their beautiful moment.
- Let it Be by Marie Force… this story allows readers to experience the how the Abbott family came to be getting to hear Lincoln and Molly’s story as they finally shared it in full with their children was truly beautiful.
