Helena Hunting delivers a captivating romance with If You Need Me, the third installment in her Toronto Terror series, which I adore!
This standalone story masterfully intertwines the enemies-to-lovers and fake engagement tropes, creating a story that’s heartwarming, thoughtful, entertaining, and HOT <make sure to download the bonus)
Since childhood, Toronto Terror player Dallas Bright has harbored feelings for Wilhelmina “Hemi” Reddi-Grinst. Their shared history is complicated, and it highlights how sometimes what you think you know, isn’t the whole story.
Now, as adults Hemi is the PR Director for the Terror and those she wants no part of Dallas he find a way to be on her space quite often. The how this fake relationship comes to be is one the reader believes and one that speaks to who the core of who each character is. This trope is not always my jam but in this book, it really works.
Hemi is a strong, intelligent woman grappling with insecurities about being “too much,” and man, did I relate to this. Dallas, with his unwavering devotion and golden retriever-like charm, is determined to prove his worth and win her heart. This element was so well done, you never doubt that Dallas is a big bad alpha hockey player, and you also never doubt that he would do anything for Hemi and that he adores her just as she is
Their chemistry bleeds off the pages, and the witty banter and heartfelt moments make their journey one that kept me glued to my Kindle. The inclusion of the Bad Ass Babe Brigade and the other Terror players adds depth and enriches the storyline. Having said and often being drawn to readers who happy I have read before (part of what I love about series) in this one Hemi’s brothers (who are new to the reader) steal the show, their bro-mance date with Dallas was EPIC.
Speaking of EPIC, the dynamic Hemi and Dallas share and how Hunting plays this out when the book gets steamy truly make this book one that will live in my heart for a long time!
Hunting’s signature blend of humor, emotion, and steam is evident throughout, making If You Need Me a standout read in a read where not many books held my attention.
Hunting continues to showcase her storytelling talent, leaving me so excited, did I say excited .. because I am so excited for If You Love Me, the next installment in the series.
I am not saying why because the author has not made it public but after the epilogue you will know and you will be EXCITED too!
