Thea Landry has always known her place in modern-day society. It’s somewhere just above the trash can her mother dumped her in as a newborn but below the class where much comes easy. With her tattered shoes and bargain-bin clothes, her life has never been full of glamour.
So when a rich and charismatic man takes interest, she doesn’t fool herself into thinking their encounter is anything more than a one-night stand. Months later, she’s kicking herself for not getting his phone number. Or his last name. She’s given up hope of seeing him ever again.
Until one day, years later, Logan Kendrick waltzes into her life once more and turns everything she’s built upside down. This time around, she won’t make the same mistake. She’s going to fight to keep him in her life—not for herself.
But for their daughter.
I loved Tattered, the connection between Thea and Logan bled off the pages. I am not sharing anything not already told in the blurb. This story is about a one-night stand that results in a baby—one the hero doesn’t find out about for almost 6 years.
This was a book I didn’t want to put down; I was vested in Logan and Thea and in wanting them to find a way to embrace their connection, to build off the past, to grab the new tomorrow both never even imagined possible.
The author made it very clear that what each character was feeling was different than anything either had felt before. I think this was paramount for me not only rooting for a happy but believing it as it developed.
The cast that makes up the world this book was set in added to the story, allowed insight into both Logan and Thea’s life choices.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Charlie, this adorable almost 6 year old has a spirit and a mind all her own. Her feelings, her reactions to all of this made the book even more raw and laced with emotions.
The happy at the end had me closing my kindle with the biggest grin on my face! Well done Ms. Perry, well done!
This book is labeled Lake Cove book 1 which made me so happy as it meant that as I got to the end that I will get to return to this world!
Side note: For me this love story was more than the 4 stars I rated the book. The 4 stars is because there was an element in the book that for me personally detracted from this beautiful second chance love story.
