Abby
I only have one love now—the home furnishings business I’m building into an empire. Maybe money and success can’t love me back, but they keep what’s left of my heart safe. One-night stands are my way of scratching the occasional itch I get for something more. And no one’s better for that than a sexy as sin hockey player I’ll never see again after one very hot night together.Luca
I used to love two things: hockey and women. But now my nieces and nephew are my top priority, because I’m raising them after tragedy stole their parents. Somehow I balance single parenthood and my career as a forward for the Chicago Blaze. There’s no time for women, until I get knocked on my ass by Abby Daniels. She’s everything I’ve ever wanted, but her devastating past may end us before we even get started.
Wow… I loved LUCA by Brenda Rothert. I was fortunate enough to have this book hit my kindle just before I boarded a plane ✈. Airplane reading is one of my favorite places to read since a great read like this one really allows you to escape!
This book was laced with emotions, I found myself smiling, giggling, fanning myself and… and…. this book also provided moments of deep heartache. No, this is not angst and the couple breaking up for trivial things, these are wounds from the past and events in life resulting in hurt; the kind of hurt that doesn’t heal overnight.
LUCA is the story of Luca a forward for the Chicago Blaze, yes a professional hockey player and Abby a woman he meets during a chance encounter at bar, a woman who becomes so much more.
If you read ANTON book 1 in the series than you know Luca is now a single dad to his nieces and nephew due to the passing of his brother and sister-in-law.
The attraction between Luca and Abby is clear to the reader as is the hesitation to for a relationship. The way this part of the story is revealed to the reader was masterful.
The use of the children in this book was so perfect… as the saying goes.. from the mouths of babes…. I really don’t want to say more other than shared experiences really do bond.Luca and Abby’s happy is so perfect for them… it is not one either who have planned for themselves but sometimes that is the perfect kind!
The men of the Chicago Blaze have come to feel like returning home, I am excited for VICTOR next!
