Gabriella Jacobson has one goal for her freshman year of college: Get Matthew Cory to fall in love with her.
Lucky for Gabby, her best friend, Ben, is attending the same college on a music scholarship. He is the perfect resource—girls love him, and he's more experienced with relationships than her, since she’s never had a boyfriend.
When Gabby panics before her first date with Matt, she begs Ben to show her how to kiss. But Ben has a secret, one he’s been keeping from Gabby for years. He’s in love with her.
One kiss turns into two, leaving Gabby confused and scared that their friendship might not survive the unforeseen emotions. She avoids Ben until something unexpected changes his life forever, and he’s forced to drop out of school.
Gabby tries to contact him, but he won’t respond. And Matthew Cory, her sister’s ex-boyfriend and handsome law student, is ready to fill the void Ben left behind.
Now that Gabby has the man she thought she wanted, can she forget about the boy who kissed her twice?

Jewel E. Ann gets me every time. I couldn’t wait to get Gabriella’s, the last Jacobson sister’s, story. Gabriella follows Matthew Cory, her older sister’s ex-boyfriend, to college thinking that he is who she is meant to be with because he is the perfect guy. Not realizing that the perfect one has been under her nose the entire time.
Ben is her best friend and has always been there for her. He never let her know his true feelings and let Gabriella live her life, listening to her go on about her love for Matthew, all the while loving her with his whole being.
I LOVE friends to lovers romances when done right and this one is perfection. When Ben goes through the unimaginable and Gabriella realizes how much he means to her, the sadness that ensued was devastating to witness. It was so hard to watch Ben realize his new reality and even worse to watch him push Gabriella away despite her wanting to be there for him… I don’t want to say too much to ruin the story for you… I think you need to experience this yourself to get the full effect.
Their growth, their maturity, their love, their resilience was inspiring and heartfelt and the emotions consumed me completely. I’ve said it over and over again that Jewel E. Ann is talented beyond words and this is another book of hers that will be in my Top 2025. Well done!
