Rafe Simmons was an integral part of Arizona Vengeance NHL team expansion team until he learns his father is ill.  This plot masterfully weaves two of Bennett’s hockey series together as Rafe joins the Carolina Cold Fury to be closer to his father.

This put him in the orbit of his childhood sweetheart, Calliope Ramirez.  The use of both their families and their connects from the past had this story quickly picking up steam.  Experiencing Calliope folds until Rafe’s space so comfortably even in the most dire of situations put a huge smile on my face.

Rafe’s actions on the past and the use of the deep connection these two share allowed for feelings that bleed off the pages. The author pulls off a lot of emotions in this short novella.

Rafe and Calliope find a happy so very perfect for them.
