Hustle is Brookeâs middle name, and she has no intention of losing this fight, no matter how tempting Brodyâs smile -- and body -- is.**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, itâs an introduction to an authorâs world. And for fans, itâs a bonus book in the authorâs series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**
Tempting Brooke by Kristen Proby is a stand alone novella set in her fictional town of Cunningham Falls, Montana. As a reader who loves this series reading returning to Cunningham Halls, Montana felt like coming home .
If you have not read a Kristen Proby book Tempting Brooke is a great look into this author’s talent and intoxicating writing style. She writes pure romance.
Tempting Brooke book pulled me in from the first few words. Brooke the heroine owns and runs, Brookeâs Blooms, the local flower đ¸ shop in Cunningham Falls, MO.
We quickly learn the prologue wraps right into the story when Brody Chabot becomes Brooke’s new landlord for the space rented by Brooke’s Blooms right in the heart of town.
Brooke and Brody’s interaction radiated pure chemistry, their connection was tangible and I had so much fun experiencing them dance around this as they struggled with the how this relationship would work.
I adored the way Brody’s painful past was revealed, nope not telling read the book!
The how a man with a successful engineering firm in San Fransisco CA returns home to a small town in Montana really worked for me and I loved that it took some work to make that happen.
In the end the happy these two find felt real and authentic for two driven adults.
I am so happy the Maisey, Brooke’s sister and wedding designer extraordinaire is getting her happy! Maisey is the heroine in Nothing Without You by Monica Murphy. This book is part of a The Kristen Proby Crossover Collection and it is now on my must read list!
EXCERPT from Tempting Brooke by Kristen ProbyÂ
âLetâs go.â He signals for our waitress, pays the tab, and leads me out to the car. I drive us to my house where his car is waiting for him, quiet the whole way.
What is there to say? We just admitted to loving each other yesterday, and now heâs leaving.
It sucks. And I donât know what this means for us.
When I pull into my driveway, I immediately get out of the car and march inside my house, opening windows and doors to get a cross breeze going.
This is the first time I can say that I hate my house. I should have installed the fucking air conditioning.
âStop,â Brody says softly. Heâs standing in the middle of my living room, his hands in his pockets, watching me with tormented eyes.
âWhat?â
âStop this. Youâre running about here like mad, and you just look pissed off. We need to talk about this.â
I feel my shoulders fall in defeat. âI donât mean to sound like a bitch here, Brody, but Iâm not sure what there is to talk about. Youâre leaving, and Iâm here. So, thanks? It was fun? Have a nice life?â
âAre you assuming that Iâm never coming back?â
âNo, you have a building here, so I guess youâll be back now and then.â
âIâm coming back,â he insists and pulls me to him, lowering his mouth to mine in one of his Olympic-style kisses. âI canât give you a timeline, but I am coming back.â
âOkay.â
âYou donât believe me.â
I sigh. âItâs not that I donât believe you. I think you want to come back. But you have a job, and a life, and so do I. So, I just think itâs going to be hard.â
âI donât just have a job, I own the firm.â
âYou do?â
âYes. So, I have some things to get in order, but itâs not impossible.â
âOwning the firm only complicates things,â I argue, shaking my head.
âItâs not forever,â he promises, then checks his phone. âAnd Iâd better go. I have to pack my things at the hotel and turn in my car before my flight in just over two hours.â
I stare at him, and I want to beg him to extend his trip one more day. One more week.
But I canât do that. Heâs already done so much for me by staying this past week.
âI didnât realize you were leaving so early in the day.â
Do not get needy, Brooke. No one likes that.
âIâm sorry, sweetheart.â He kisses me once more, and I know this kiss is goodbye.
Whether itâs goodbye for now, or goodbye for good, only time will tell.
âBe safe.â
He smiles and frames my face. âI love you.â
âI love you, too.â
One more forehead kiss, and Brody is out the door. I donât watch as he pulls out of my driveway and away from my house.
Watching him go just seems like torture.
