A new male / male hockey romance from 24-time USA Today bestseller Sarina Bowen!
My name is Hudson Newgate, but my teammates call me New Guy.
That was my nickname in Chicago, too. And Vancouver. That’s what happens when you keep getting traded. Brooklyn is my last chance, especially after my poor performance last season.
But I can make this work. The new guy knows to keep his head down and shoot the puck. The new guy puts the game first.
What he doesn’t do is hook up with the other new guy—a hot athletic trainer who lives in my building. Gavin needs this job with my team. He’s a single dad with responsibilities.
We can’t be a couple. My arrogant agent–who’s also my father–will lose his mind if I’m dating a dude. And my team needs me to score goals, not whip up a media circus.
Too bad Gavin and I are terrible at resisting each other…
I adored The New Guy by Sarina Bowen! There was no formula romance here, Bowen takes the reader on an engaging and entertaining journey as Hudson and Gavin find their forever together.
Single Dad, workplace romance, sports romance, coming out story… this book transcends the genre or sub-genre you will try to put it in as the story feels so real you feel like you are experiencing two people finding their place in the world, and trying to adult and re-craft their life when that person crossed their path.
Hudson Newgate is the “New Guy” to his teammates on the new NHL team has been traded to, I want to pause here and say how amazing this part of the story is. Too many sports romance books seem to romance what it is to a professional athlete, I adored the real-real here.
The New Guy finds Hudson in a bar pulled to Gavin… Gavin turns out to be the new trainer on the Bruisers, Hudson’s new team. Gavin is a single dad and widower.
And yes if can’t guess this book comes with backstory and twists and turns.. all so well done, from Gavin’s daughter (who is epically done) to Hudson’s Dad, to Gavin’s in-laws; it all falls into the real feel story of two adults with lives and pasts trying to make it work!
For lovers of Bowen’s Brooklyn Hockey world, you get glimpses of the players whose stories have been told prior.
Hockey Guys: a series of MM stand-alone novels is continuing and I am so excited for the next book I’m Your Guy releasing November 2023!
