Sofia Kendrick has always cherished her tiara. As the youngest daughter of a wealthy New York family, she’s lived the life of an American princess. But after two scandalous divorces and a breakup smear her name across the society rags, the shine from her crown has dulled. People call her superficial, even gaudy.
She’s nothing more than tinsel.
Desperate for escape and starving for peace, Sofia heads to Montana for a holiday weekend with her brother. But she doesn’t get the relaxing vacation she planned. Instead, she’s put to work in a bar alongside Dakota Magee—a man who does not want her help. A man who is set on teaching her a few lessons about real life and hard work. But Sofia has a couple of life lessons of her own to teach. Like how to fall in love.
Tinsel by Devney Perry blew me away! This story was emotional, unique and deeply moving. Though it can be read stand alone I think it is even more powerful if you read the prior books in the Lark Cove series, Tattered, Timid and Tragic.
Tinsel is the story of Sofia Kendrick, Logan’s sister from book 1 Tattered. Tinsel opens with the reader finding Sofia crushed as she finally takes a hard look at her life and who she has become or really hasn’t become. You see Sofia has spent her life to this point as an American Princess a consequence enjoying the benefits of being the youngest daughter of a wealthy New York family.
A scandal has Sofia running to the home her brother has made with his family in the small vacation town of Lake Cove, Montana.
And now.. now it gets interesting….. Logan’s wife Thea (yes you need to read their love story in Tattered it was top pick of mine last year) sets a plan in motion to help Sofia find her space in the world.
This plan puts Sofia in the orbit of Dakota Magee. Dakota is the bartender at the bar Thea co-owns. He quickly goes from Sofia’s babysitter to her biggest fan! Oh how I adored the banter between these two and how Dakota encourages Sofia to find her own path in life.
And speaking of path’s in life…Dakota’s hardworking and independent spirit will touch you deeply. I am going to pause here.. though I want to reveal so much more, so much of why I respected Dakota, though I want to share his struggle and the how this plays into the forever I am going to hold off.
You see Ms Perry’s revealing of this make this book something I did NOT want to put down and I want the reader to share in that experience!
Sofia and Dakota’s path to happy was deeply moving and one that will really made the reader think.
A huge thank you to the author for this memorable read and top pick series!
