Turning Pages into Hope: Books That Support Mental Health Awareness

Posted on 28 April, 2026 by in Keith Milano Memorial Fund / 0 comments

Authors and Readers Coming Together for Mental Health Awareness

A book can be something you read, something you gift, or something you share.

This May, it can also be part of something much bigger…..

The 14th Annual Mental Health Awareness Book Fundraiser brings together generous authors and readers to support mental health awareness and suicide prevention in memory of Keith Milano.

What started with one author’s kindness has grown into fourteen years of authors and readers coming together to raise awareness and honor Keith’s legacy.

Every participating book purchased helps. Every share helps. Every conversation helps.

How the Book Fundraiser Works

Throughout May 2026, participating authors donate a portion of their book sales to the Keith Milano Memorial Fund at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Every participating book purchased helps support mental health awareness and suicide prevention in Keith’s memory.

Readers can support the fundraiser by buying a book, gifting a book, sharing the fundraiser, engaging with social media posts, or making a direct donation.

Why This Fundraiser Matters

Mental health awareness is about the people we love, the conversations we need to keep having, and the support that can make someone feel less alone.

So many people carry struggles quietly. A shared post, an honest conversation, or a reminder that help exists can reach someone at the right moment.

This fundraiser helps keep mental health and suicide prevention visible. It gives authors, readers, friends, and families a way to stand together around something that affects so many lives.

Purchasing these books in any format in May 2026 benefits mental health awareness

The Keith Milano Memorial Fund was established to help raise awareness about the devastating and deadly disease that is mental illness. Keith’s spirit and laughter are kept alive through our efforts to increase awareness about mental illness and to raise money for education and imperative research. Keith often struggled with society’s perception of mental illness. Our hope is that by having the strength to say that Keith was “Bipolar” we can strip away the stigma and help others to be more open about their disease.

The Keith Milano Memorial Fund benefits the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). At the end of the event, participating authors pay AFSP directly. AFSP is a fully accredited 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization incorporated in the state of Delaware with primary offices in New York City. Federal tax ID # is 13-3393329.
