Callum Welsh perfected the art of hating me when we were two kids who believed we’d be forced into marriage.
He thought I wanted it, but my only wish had been for him to leave me alone.
Then one afternoon, he stole my first kiss.
Despite all he’d done, everything changed after that.

As the years passed, our hearts thawed, and he no longer hated me.
In fact, he loved me enough to make me his wife.
Until I ruined everything with one stupid mistake.

That hatred returned in the form of cruel words and even crueler deeds.
But we weren’t kids anymore.
I could handle his brand of venom.
He would be mine again, even if it cost me the remains of my heart.

Warning: contains cheating and an anti-hero who might make you throw your kindle.

Each book in the Gray Springs world can be read as a standalone.

I love enemies-to-lovers, second chance romance stories… especially stories that pack in the angst factor, the heat, and the OMG I can’t stop reading/addictiveness. Pretty Venom was all that and MORE!

I have never read Ella Fields before so when Author Kate Stewart raved about this one, I had some free space in my usual crazy blogging schedule to pick this one up and WOW… it was just EVERYTHING! Now I have to go back and read them all from the beginning!

Callum and Renee met as young teenagers. Renee’s dad relocated his family from the city to a more peaceful and quiet town to merge businesses with Callum’s dad. Best friend parents hoping that their children would become best friends and even to the point of arranging marriages… what teenager would want to be put into that kind of situation? Of course there is an instant dislike for each other as Callum doesn’t want to be told who to marry, what to be when he grows up—so he is an instant jerk to Renee and Renee dislikes him in return. Though… as the reader you can see that there is an undeniable connection between them. Can their hate become something more?!

Watching these two grow up and inevitably realize what they mean to each other was so beautiful to behold. Every touch, every word, every secret… I just loved them together. And let’s not even talk about the romance of getting married for THEM and not because what their parents wanted for them. *le sigh*

With love then a young marriage comes college and football and navigating being together in school while outside forces get in the way. It’s not pretty, folks. It’s messy and angsty as all heck and how I teared up and cried a couple of times because the pain and the hate and the messiness was palpable…. overwhelming at times because I hurt like they did.

But I will say I had hope… I never let go of my hope because despite the pain I knew that there was still some love beneath the surface and I just held onto that hope and love that these characters who were so meant for each other could find forgiveness… could learn to trust again and could find their way back to each other.

So what happens? A whole heck of a lot and I am not telling because you have to read the book. I will say this… Ella Fields is a new-to-me author that I have simply fallen in love with. I was captivated by this story to the point of being throughly obsessed. I fell in love with her words… these characters and I am a new fan.

Readers looking for that book that will rip your heart out while giving you crazy heart palpitations but then will restore your faith in fate and love and what’s meant to be will happen should pick up this book today. It’s just AMAZING!!!!
