My life changed forever the night my husband died.
I was left with a shattered heart, a heap of bills, and our daughter, EVERLEIGH. I don’t want to rely on anyone, least of all CREW GENTRY. He’s my first love and the man who almost destroyed me, the man who has let me down every time I’ve needed him.
But when tragedy strikes a second time, Crew just might be my only hope.

My life changed forever the night my brother died.
I was left with a guilty conscience, a pile of mistakes, and little else. I take care of JULIA GENTRY, my brother’s widow and the love of my life, and their daughter. I know she doesn’t want my help, but she gets it anyway. I owe her that.

When another disaster hits, I’m given the opportunity to make things right. I’m taking it. I'm willing to sacrifice it all.

This is a very emotional book.. with a blurb that starts out with:
My life changed forever the night my husband died.
I was left with a shattered heart, a heap of bills, and our daughter, Everleigh

The reader is aware this is a going to be rough ride.. well hold on because that is only the tip of the iceberg for this one.

As the blurb continues to say:

He’s my first love and the man who almost destroyed me, the man who has let me down every time I’ve needed him.
But when tragedy strikes a second time, Crew just might be my only hope.

The story builds off of this point highlighting a deep connection between Crew and Julia, the heroine in the book.

I adored Crew, yes Crew messed up in the past but his desire to make things right and his love for Everleigh, made this an enjoyable read.

“I turn, touch the side of her face and look into her eyes. I hope she can see what I feel in them. I hope she can see that I’ve loved her since the day I f*cking saw her. I hope she can see that I will love her ‘til the day I die.”

From the moment I meet Ever, I was hooked, this little girl stole the book!

“It’s a good one,” Ever says, her voice heavy with sleep, “about two princes that both love a beautiful princess. They love her the same but different…”

Julia’s hesitant and snippy comments felt so true to the character crafted and to the story:

“He’s apologized to me so many times and I’ve never accepted”

The “what” that causes Crew to put his foot down and force Julia to accept his help will put a lump in your throat all while Crew’s reaction warms your heart:

“This is the way this is going to happen from here on out. Listen carefully, take notes if you gotta, but by God, pay attention. You are moving in with me. I’m taking care of you and Everleigh, at least until she’s better. Once that happens, and it will happen, Jules, then if you want to leave, we’ll discuss. But I’m drawing a fucking line in the sand right now and it’d do ya some good not to cross it.”

The “how” Julia and Crew get to a happy felt so true to the characters crafted.  If you love emotional reads or reads with children, this is a great one to #1click.
