Everyone says opposites attract. And they must be right, because there’s no logical reason why I’m so drawn to Colin Fitzgerald. I don’t usually go for tattoo-covered, video-gaming, hockey-playing nerd-jocks who think I’m flighty and superficial. His narrow view of me is the first strike against him. It doesn’t help that he’s buddy-buddy with my brother.

And that his best friend has a crush on me.

And that I just moved in with them.

Oh, did I not mention we’re roommates?

I suppose it doesn’t matter. Fitzy has made it clear he’s not interested in me, even though the sparks between us are liable to burn our house down. I’m not the kind of girl who chases after a man, though, and I’m not about to start. I’ve got my hands full dealing with a new school, a sleazy professor, and an uncertain future. So if my sexy brooding roomie wises up and realizes what he’s missing?

He knows where to find me.

I love the Off-Campus series and couldn’t wait to start into this new series by Elle Kennedy. I just love her sports romance and hockey boys are my absolute favorite kind of athletes. <3

The Chase is the story of our beloved gamer-jock-nerd Fitzy and Dean’s sister Summer Heyward-Dilaurentis. Dean and Summer have always secretly been fascinated with one another and The Chase brings them in each other’s orbit even closer as they are now roommates trying to deny the attraction that they feel for one another.

I loved each of these character’s backstories—what makes them who they are, why they act the way they do, and how they are in social and personal relationships. Yes, they are the complete opposite of one another with Dean being more of the quiet, not looking for drama, keep his emotions in check guy while Summer is all sunshine, and happy, and loud and openly honest. I absolutely adored experiencing the back and forth, the angst, the connection between them grow most especially watching Dean come out of his shell and truly live life rather than squash his emotions inside and seeing Summer’s confidence in herself grow. They really brought out the good in each other—always supportive, always there for each other, always the love shining through.

I just LOVE this series and this author and can’t wait to read the happy endings for the secondary characters because as I have learned from the Off-Campus series, you can’t help but love every character that Elle Kennedy has ever created!

I order two beers and hand over some cash. When I turn back, I find Garrett eyeing me.

“What?” I say awkwardly.

“What’s going on with you and Summer?”

“Nothing.” Fuck. Did I answer too fast?

“Liar. You answered way too fast.”

Goddammit.

His tone becomes cautious. “When she got handsy back there…you didn’t seem to mind.”

He’s right. I didn’t mind. The last time I saw Summer, I made a conscious effort to keep my distance. Tonight, I let her touch my arm. I shared a drink with her. Honestly, if I liked to
dance, I probably would’ve let her drag me onto the floor.

“She’s… Well, she’s into me,” I say slowly.

Garrett snorts. “No shit, dude. That chick wants to ride your dick.”

“I know.” Guilt pricks my throat. I hope I haven’t been leading her on tonight. “Don’t worry,” I assure him. “I won’t go there.”

He looks startled. “Why would I be worried?” His eyebrows furrow. “Wait. You might be misunderstanding. I’m not warning you away from her. I think this is a good thing.”

A frown touches my lips. “You do?”

“Of course. I mean, one—you never hook up.”

I swallow a laugh. That’s not true at all. I get lots of action. I just don’t talk about it.

“Two—Summer’s cute. She’s fun. Easy to talk to.” He shrugs. “She could be exactly what you need. You’d have to run it by Dean first, though. He thinks she’s a brat, but he’s protective of her.”

Run it by Dean? As in, ask Dean for permission to bone down with his little sister? Garrett is frickin’ crazy if—

My thought process halts.

“You’re talking about more than a casual hook-up here,” I say in realization.

“Well, yeah. She’s Dean’s sister. He’d kill you otherwise.”
