Hemdeep Singh knows exactly what he wants. With his intelligence and determination, he has what it takes to build his own legacy away from Bharat, Inc. and the empire his father created. But when his brother calls him home, Hem puts his dreams on hold once again to help save the company he walked away from. That’s when he encounters the devastating Mina Kohli in the Bharat boardroom, and he realizes he’s in for more than he had bargained.

Mina will do whatever it takes to recover control of her mother’s law firm, even if it means agreeing to an arranged marriage. Her newest case assignment is to assist Bharat in the midst of a potential takeover. It could be the key to finally achieving her goal while preventing her marriage to a man she doesn’t love—as long as her explosive attraction to Hem doesn’t get in the way.

As Mina and Hem work to save Bharat, they not only uncover secrets that could threaten the existence of the company, but they also learn that in a winner-takes-all game, love always comes out on top.

The Takeover Effect by Nisha Sharma was an engaging and well written story about love, family and the business.

The Takeover Effect centers around the Singh family company Bharat, Inc. and an impending takeover…. what could end up being a hostile takeover.

Hemdeep Singh, the oldest of the Singh brother, has branched out on his own but returns after this news breaks….. this bid for takeover puts him in the orbit of Mina Kohli an attorney brought into help the board evaluate the takeover.

Yes, this book is layered in business terminology but for me that worked as it is the world Hem and Nina live in.  Work is their life when we meet them and how they blend plays off of their drive and ambition.

Both think they are working for the honor of what their respective family’s have built… but well… secrets and lies unfold…..

I am not well versed in Indian culture and the author did try to explain most of the terms used in the book, the author also attempts to show the pull of cultural understanding as these two grow closer. I do think another editor might have handled this better as at times it did “interpret” the story.

This author is new to me and I hope to continue to watch her work improve.. in this book I felt the use of Hem’s ex was overdone (she was used too many times as a reference point) but in time I think that is an element that will improve as this author matures.

The happy Hem and Nina create is truly perfect for them… two very anxious attorneys who love the drive each possesses.

Regardless of which Singh brother is next I am excited for The Legal Affair: The Singh Family Trilogy to not only see the happy that takes place but also to learn the fate of this family’s business.
