Luke Walker is done running from his troubled past. Finally home after years in the military, he’s ready to make amends with his family and set down some roots. But adapting to civilian life is way harder than he ever could’ve expected.

She has no intention of sticking around. He has no plans to run again. All they have is one month together. Will it be enough for Luke to prove he’s everything Ava needs—in light, in darkness, and most importantly, even in the rain?

Waiting on the Rain by Claudia Connors is the story of Ava Bennet and Luke Walker. Ava is a blind woman back in her hometown to help with her Dad’s recovery while Luke home from the military trying to find his place in the world.

Ava and Luke have an easy way with each other from the moment they meet.

Ava’s backstory and prior marriage hit home the point that how you see yourself is so very important and it affects the decisions you make in life.

Luke is so wonderful with Ava, she is not disabled to him he just wants to understand how the world works for her and most importantly how he can live in their small town more manageable.  Though it might not seem like it at first glance the author makes it clear why Ava finds navigating a big city easier.

Luke has taken up residence on his family’s farm, one that offers services to the disabled, and the part this plays in the storyline was so well done.  It becomes central to the story and more importantly how both Ava and Luke discover what they really want out of their lives.

Bearing witness to these two discover their place in the world is with each other warmed my heart and brought a smile to my face. The forever these to craft is so perfect for them.
